Bio | Born and raised in Montreal, Stephen H Garrity’s passion has always been storytelling. Having studied film production at Concordia University, Steve’s novels possess a cinematic sensibility that positions them perfectly for television and film adaptation. A diverse writer, Steve’s stories range from romantic thrillers, action adventures, to science fiction. Steve, an avid space, history, and military enthusiast, applies a respectful scientific and historical basis as an integral founda¬tion for his storytelling. Even the phases of the moon are accurate for the date he describes. Steve has taken numerous writing courses, attended seminars, workshops, and has worked with professional editors. In addition to his career in freight logistics, Steve became actively involved with Québec politics during the height of the 1995 Québec sovereignty referendum. Steve’s lifelong passion has been the time travel epic that he origi¬nally penned in the mid-1980s as The Wizard Blew His Horn. Following several revisions under the guidance of a literary agent in the early 2000s, the book could not find a home. In 2004, Steve, his wife Colette and their children moved from Montreal to British Columbia for a lifestyle change. One of Steve’s two new novels, the romantic thriller Sweet Obsession, won the 2007 Grand Prize of the Mount Arrowsmith Novel Writing Contest, beating over a hundred contestants; many of them published authors from North America, England, and Australia. In 2008, Steve decided that the time travel epic required a complete makeover with a lot more dynamics, plot twists and action, and re-imagined the series with the working title of The Grandfather Paradox. Completed in 2019, this sweeping epic spans four 145,000 word novels. Steve currently resides in Ottawa with his wife of over 40 years, Colette. |
