September 18 and 19, 2021 – Save the Date!

Canadian Authors’ CanWrite! conferences are vibrant gatherings that offer writers opportunities to learn, network, pitch, connect, and celebrate. All our previous conferences have been face-to-face events, but this year we are holding it remotely via Zoom due to the uncertainties caused by COVID-19. Some interactive networking opportunities will be included in the schedule.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

This year, there will be no travel and no hotel stay—but you can still hone your craft in virtual sessions taught by bestselling authors, get insider details on the business of writing from authors, agents, editors, and marketing professionals, and learn how to pitch your work with confidence. And all from the comfort of your home!

Over the two days of the conference, there will be two sessions on the business of writing, two sessions on the writing process, and two sessions on the craft of writing—each lasting roughly 60 minutes and including opportunities for questions. We have also included two panels with industry experts: one with publishers and agents discussing today’s writing and publishing industry, and the other with authors and experts describing their experiences with different forms of storytelling.

Optional one-on-one agent/editor pitch sessions and blue-pencil sessions will also available for a small fee. Although these sessions will be scheduled during the two weeks after the conference, they are only open to conference registrants. Information and registration for these sessions will be updated shortly.

Due to the impact the pandemic has had on artists and creators, we’re offering our conference at a discounted rate. This rate includes all events taking place on Saturday and Sunday, including six presentations, two panel discussions, and a keynote event with guest speaker Terry Fallis.

Note that pitch sessions and blue pencil sessions are not included and must be registered for separately.
