Bio | Doreen Vanderstoop is a Calgary-based writer, storyteller and musician. Her novel “Watershed” was published by Freehand Books in May 2020. Doreen's short fiction has appeared in Prairie Fire Magazine and online at Montreal Serai, prairiejournal.org, epiphmag.com, and Alexandra Writers' Centre, among others. She is a member of Canadian Authors Association and Writer’s Guild of Alberta. In her theme-based storytelling performances, Doreen enjoys actively engaging her listeners with song, story reflections and humour. Doreen has performed her original creative non-fiction stories, personal anecdotes, literary adaptations and folktales at conferences, festivals, schools, libraries, Jane’s Walks, church gatherings, Tellarounds, Story Cafes and more. She also leads workshops on storytelling to inspire in others a passion for the oral tradition. Doreen is a member of Storytelling Alberta and Storytellers of Canada/Conteurs du Canada. |
