This is the first short story of a collection of day-to-day occurrences in a retail setting. This series describes how human emotions clash and collide over such seemingly simple and innocent thing as routine grocery shopping. This story is about a character who started as a seeming nuisance as a low-level employee at the store, and ended up deciding the store's and its employees futures.

As to why he got the nickname, A Termite, was relatively easy to explain. He kept eating the produce in the store, day in, day out. At the beginning, other employees would just grin or chuckle about it. A Termite became a popular topic of the kitchen gossip in the store. The store manager and the store owner learned about his eating produce by chance, and, initially, they did not pay much attention to it. The store accountant drew their attention to the problem when the usual loss in the produce doubled compared to the previous year. That was where A Termite's story really began.
