Jasmine glared at her mother; her mouth turned down. "Whatever. I don't want to talk about it." She headed towards her bedroom and slammed the door.

Sarah bit her lower lip as she felt a large knot form in her stomach. She couldn't do anything right lately as far as Jasmine was concerned. The women at work had told her teen years were a moody time for girls. This friction was worse. She knew her anxiety about her daughter's school plans caused her to sound like a nag, but she was the mother. Who else would help Jasmine make plans that would lead to a successful career.

About the Author

Karen Gansel – A graduate of the University of Toronto Master of Health Administration, Karen had a nineteen-year career with the Ontario Ministry of Health as a senior manager. This included leading two Ministry joint teams with the Ontario Medical Association and the Ontario Hospital Association. A member of the Canadian Authors Association since 2009, Karen was president of the Niagara branch between 2011 and 2017. She chaired the CAA Branch Support & Development Committee from 2013 to 2016. In 2017 she joined the CAA board of directors and was one of the first Co-chairs for this National writer’s organization. This recent novel, The Inheritance published in 2022 is a family drama about a corporate lawyer and single parent, Sarah living in Toronto. In December 2020, Karen published her second novel, Celeste Unraveled, a modern romantic drama available on Amazon.com and Kobo.com. All three novels are available on the Canadian National bookshelf. Her first novel, a psychological suspense, Differences Between Us, was published in March 2018 with both Amazon and kobo.
