For the first time in 31 years, the Word On The Street Festival is going virtual. In light of the new challenges presented by global efforts to fight COVID-19, the team at the Word On The Street Lethbridge (a.k.a. WOTS) will continue to act as connectors and amplifiers for Canadian and Indigenous literature, even if that looks a little different this year.
So you can keep your calendars marked for September 19—and expect more surprises along the way with a FREE online festival of storytelling, ideas & imagination.
With your feedback, a plan is being developed a plan that will ensure the safety of attendees, exhibitors, authors, and volunteers while recreating the best-loved parts of WOTS in a new, virtual context, with unique programming, a digital marketplace, a dedicated stream for kids and families, and a virtual gathering space to connect with each other and celebrate stories.
Lethbridge is proud to join communities across the country in a national celebration of literacy, storytelling, and the literary arts for the 9th year in a row. This signature event in southern Alberta presents established and emerging authors, storytellers, informative panel discussions, demonstrations and workshops, live music, tons of activities and a bustling marketplace. We strive to create a free local festival that represents the diversity of our community, is accessible to all ages, and is well attended, lively, and fun!
Since 2011, The Word On The Street Lethbridge has proudly hosted a wide and diverse range of literary talent from across Canada. Our ninth annual festival is shaping up to be another great one. Check out the authors and artists appearing this year!
