Canadian Authors – National Capital Region: Scene and Summary – When to Show and When to Tell, with Tim Wynne-Jones
Via Zoom. Free to members of Canadian Authors Association; $10 for non-members. We use both scene and summary to weave together a story. Scenes of dialogue and action draw the reader in, while summary – exposition – fills in events, backstory, setting, etcetera. Over-summarization can drain the heart out of a story; on the other hand, wallowing in scene after scene can become deadly boring and drag the pace down.
