Bio Executive Coach by day; author/writer by night, but in transition to full-time author & publisher. I have [self]published seven books so far: two on career management; one on management effectiveness (The Dynamics of Managment (2015)); and two memoirs about the family dogs (The Maxim Chronicles (2016) and its sequel, The Hallelujah Chorus (2017). A novel about about lost love (Amitié (2019); and a memoir about my journey through grief and transition (Travels With Myself (2020)). A novel about a boy growing up in the 1960s in small town Ontario is in the works, hopefully published in April 2021. A couple of romances are lurking somewhere too. By day I am the Principal in my own firm, AFS Consulting, in Ottawa. Canada. I spent the first twenty years of my career in industry in Human Resources Management, and the next twenty in consulting in organization and management effectiveness. In addition to my books I have written dozens of blogs on management, and life. You can investigate these at http://www.afsconsulting.ca I have a B.A. in Politics and Economics and an MBA from Queen’s University, Kingston. In all these endeavours I hope to educate as well as entertain.
Publications The Hallelujah Chorus, 2017 by Doug Jordan (Goodreads Author) 4.8 · Rating details · 5 Ratings · 3 Reviews The sequel to The Maxim Chronicles, this heart-warming 'memoir', of sorts, continues the story of a poodle-loving family and their journey with their beautiful white female Standard Poodle, Hallelujah, as she finds her way through puppyhood, to the show ring and on to motherhood. The story continues with daughter Bonnie Doon and another trip to 'The Show', and then on to the dogs' real purpose – family pets. At once amusing, and poignant, you'll learn more about raising Champion Poodles than you ever thought you wanted to know. And along the way you'll ponder passing comments about life, according to the author. The Maxim Chronicles, 2016 by Doug Jordan (Goodreads Author) 4.6 · Rating details · 10 Ratings · 5 Reviews A story about a year in the life of a dog and his various families. Maxim was a Standard Poodle who lived for a time in Israel only to return to Ottawa as a 'teenager' and learn to accept a whole new family. A memoir full of humour and information as Max and his family enter the world of conformation shows, and finally becoming a champion, in more ways than one. Clearly narrative therapy, it may also prove therapeutic to the reader as well. The Dynamics of Management by Doug Jordan (2015) it was amazing 5.0 · Rating details · 6 Ratings · 3 Reviews This book is intended for people who are curious about management, career and life effectiveness. To be an effective manager, you have to find emotional and intellectual pleasure in the art and psychology of understanding and influencing others' behaviors.
