Bio Brian Douglas is a writer and reader from Vancouver BC, Canada. He has had several careers throughout his life, ranging from lighting designer for television, theater and concerts with many of the most well known artists around the globe, to crisis counselling in some of the nation's largest hospitals and trauma centers. He currently operates Opulent Wave: an architectural lighting company specializing in LED lighting installations for sky scrapers and large bridges. His life experiences have equipped him well for the transition to the world of literary pursuits. He has written several short stories, a self-published children's book, and is currently writing his second and third novels. He writes primarily adult books in the psychological meta-fiction genre. Brian has his master's degree with double majors in Psychology and Pastoral Leadership. He uses his education and experience as a therapist as the underpinning for his writing. His most recent completed novel, "They Flutter Behind You," follows the life of Glenwood High School Guidance Counselor, Trent Reynolds, who is arrested and convicted for the statutory rape of a student under his care. We walk with Reynolds through his prison sentence, the painful struggle of personal clemency, and battle to put the shattered pieces of his life back together as he reveals childhood wounds which led him to this path of self-sabotage and contemptible exploitation. He writes, "When you think of 'They Flutter Behind You,' think, 'Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine' in a head-on collision with, 'Orange Is the New Black.'" Brian is currently seeking agent representation for his writing.
