Victoria Festival of Authors: In Conversation – Leanne Betasamosake Simpson with Carey Newman

Celebrated for her uncompromising truth-telling and genre-bending style, Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg writer, scholar, and musician Leanne Betasamosake Simpson has been the recipient of numerous literary accolades. Join us as she discusses her most recent book Noopiming with Indigenous artist, master carver, filmmaker, and author Carey Newman. Noopiming is Anishinaabemowin for “in the bush” and the title is a response to English Canadian settler and author Susanna Moodie’s 1852 memoir Roughing It in the Bush.
