Learning & Development Series: Freedom to Read Week Edition -Book Censorship in Alberta

As part of the Book and Periodical Council’s (BPC) continued commitment to Freedom to Read Week, they are pleased to announce the Learning & Development series event on Book Censorship in Alberta on February 26, 2026.

In January 2026, dozens of books were removed from school library shelves across Alberta, prompted by a new provincial order. Special guest Spencer Miller endeavours to explain exactly how we got here, what books are disappearing off shelves, and what’s being done to resist the spread of book censorship.
