Graphic Description – Memoir of a Moonie: 12:15 pm – 1:00 pm on September 24th, 2020
As a young woman at a crossroads, Marianne Boucher was introduced to a group of simple, kind, and loving people. She felt connected right away. However, using subtle brainwashing techniques, these recruiters indoctrinated her into the cult of a frightening spiritual abuser. In searing graphic novel form, Marianne, now a courtroom sketch artist, shares the story of her innocent entry and painful escape from a dangerous future. With images from the book as a supporting medium, Marianne discusses with Aara Macauley what it’s like to be indoctrinated and then deprogrammed.
