Africa Centre Presents Words For Health with internationally acclaimed poet Titilope Sonuga

Free Zoom session on Saturday, September 5th, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm MST

The Africa Centre serves as a hub for communities of African descent through a wide range of programs and services aimed to support all ages. The largest of its kind in Western Canada, the centre is committed to empowering Black individuals through a strong African Indigenous cultural foundation incorporated across its programs and services.

The Africa Centre is hosting a FREE Online session for youth, called ‘Words for Health’, with internationally-acclaimed poet Titilope Sonuga on September 5th.

‘Words for Health’ will work with youth to teach them the creative writing skills found in poetry and spoken word, while introducing them to the mindful practice of writing. As part of our mental-health ArTeMo project, the workshop aims to provide an alternative collaborative approach to promoting mental health among Black Canadian youth and their families to improve their psychological, emotional, and social well-being.
