About the presenters:

Valerie Dunsmore – A perspective on self-publishing. Valerie is a Canadian writer who studied creative writing and journalism. Deeply inspired by nature, as well as her children, Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit is Valerie’s first publication. Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit won first place for fiction at the 2021 Whistler Independent Book Awards, first place in the 2021 Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards for Mainstream/Literary, and numerous other awards. She is working on her second novel and resides in Calgary, Alberta.

Fran Hurcomb – How contests can help publicize your books. Fran is a Yellowknife, Northwest Territories-based writer and photographer whose latest short storybook, Breaking Trail, recipient of the 2021 Whistler Independent Book Award for non-fiction. Fran has seven previously published books, and her latest, a photographic history of commercial fishing on Great Slave Lake, will be released in the fall of 2022.
