| Bio | Brook followed in his father’s footsteps, joined the U.S. Army after finishing high school in Toronto, Canada. Upon completion of the United States Military Academy (West Point) Preparatory College, Brook returned to Canada and ultimately pursued a military career with the Canadian Armed Forces. Brook has a bachelors degree from York University in Economics and Political Science and a Master’s Degree from the Royal Military College of Canada in War Studies and is a graduate of the United States Air Force’s Command and Staff College. A professionally trained and tested Senior Logistics Officer/Senior Manager in the field of transportation and air movements, Brook has over 30 years of experience in the Royal Canadian Air Force, honing his skills at the national level, as well as on international assignments and deployed operations. Brook deployed on numerous military operations, including Canadian Arctic Sovereignty / NORAD missions (Operation BOXTOP), the Gulf War (Operation FRICTION / DESERT STORM), UN Humanitarian missions in Africa (Operation PRESERVE and LANCE), NATO operations in Bosnia-Herzegovina (Operation HARMONY AND PALLADIUM), and his final mission, Operation IMPACT, as the Commanding Officer of Camp Canada and the Operational Support Base, at Ali Al Salem Air Base, Kuwait. During his military career, Brook qualified and flew as an operational loadmaster on the CC-130 Hercules and the CC-150 Polaris, conducting strategic and tactical airlift missions as well as Search & Rescue operations across Canada and around the globe. Brook has been recognized for his leadership and dedication, being awarded the Order of Military Merit (OMM), and the Canadian Decoration (CD) and the Commander’s Commendation by the Canadian Armed Forces as well as the Meritorious Service Medals from both the United States of America and Denmark. Brook retired from the Canadian Armed Forces / Royal Canadian Air Force in August 2020 as a Lieutenant-Colonel and is the owner and CEO of a Defence and Logistics Consulting firm Valhalla Consulting, located in Ottawa, Canada. Brook is currently the Executive Director of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association and is the Director of Communications on the board of Directors for the Canadian Battlefields Foundation. Brook began his writing career in 2015 as he researched and wrote "Onward to Valhalla" the true life story of his father's life and military career. Upon the advise of his publisher, Onward to Valhalla was subsequently divided into two volumes and will be published two books / historical novels chronicling the incredible life and impressive military career of his father – Leif Bangsboll. Both books – An OSS Secret Agent Behind Enemy Lines and US Special Forces Commando are being published by Pen & Sword Publishers of the UK for distribution in 2025. |
