| Bio | Sophie Armstrong, previously known as Sophie Serafino, is an Australian instrumental global music artist based in Canada. An award-winning violinist and composer, Sophie has shared her story through her unique global music style in over 40 cities worldwide. Described by the Daily Telegraph Australia as “Inimitable” and “Refreshing,” she captivates audiences with her distinctive sound, taking them on an unforgettable journey. Raised in a family of musicians, Sophie graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium with a degree in music performance. She explored multiple genres and toured with platinum-selling artists before developing her own unique voice. Celebrated by the Daily Telegraph in 2007 for “defying labels,” Sophie has released all her records independently, successfully building a global fan base by not conforming to major label advice. A passionate advocate for women's issues, Sophie founded and directed the Every Woman Foundation for ten years (2008-2018), which was recognized as one of Canada’s top 100 women’s organizations. Her contributions earned her the Global Television Women of Vision Award in 2014 and the Women of Inspiration Arts & Cultural Award in 2017. In 2024, Sophie released "The Music Thief," a children's book about self-expression inspired by her and her family's journey with neurodiversity. In early 2025, book received an Independent Press Award in the children’s fiction category. |
