Author Talk – Mary-Anne Neal – Women Talking About Women on Women’s Day
Women Talking About Women on Women’s Day, with Mary-Anne Neal:
On March 8th, celebrated worldwide as International Women’s Day, we will welcome Mary-Anne Neal, an author and educator who has worked closely as a volunteer with Indigenous women in the remote Sahtu region of the Northwest Territories, to improve literacy and increase pride in their Dene heritage. She will tell us about her memoir and about the impact of writing on the women who live in isolated Indigenous communities. Mary-Anne’s memoir, “Under the Midnight Sun” recounts her fifty-year friendship with the Arctic Dene and provides an insight into Indigenous and non-Indigenous lives in the context of the changing environment of the Arctic. Since 2021, more than 4,000 copies of the book have been sold.
Date: Wednesday, March 8th, 2023
Time: 7pm PST – The program will be approximately 1 hour.
