A writing circle consists of a group of writers who are interested in sharing their drafts, and giving and receiving support and feedback.<\/p>\n

The Toronto branch plans to launch several new writing\/critiquing circles around the GTA. These will be safe environments where members of Canadian Authors \u2013 Toronto can meet to exchange drafts and receive peer critiques and encouragement.<\/p>\n

Annex Writing Circle<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Members of Canadian Authors\u2013Toronto: Please note that the Annex Writing Circle is now full.<\/em> Previously writers had met at a downtown location, however, due to COVID-19, the current circle is meeting virtually.<\/p>\n

Advance registration is required<\/strong>. Membership had been capped at 10 participants to ensure that everyone has a chance to give and receive feedback on each work-in-progress.<\/p>\n

Please note that Authors\u2013Toronto writing circles are open only to members of Canadian Authors Association. Visit https:\/\/canadianauthors.org\/national\/join\/<\/a> to join.<\/p>\n

The basic structure of each meeting will be as follows: Members will be asked to submit their draft of up to 2,000 words to the group a few days before each meeting. Drafts will be discussed in the order in which they are received by email. We\u2019ll allow for about 15 minutes of introductions or catching up at the start of each meeting, then divide the time spent on each draft by the number of people in attendance. We\u2019ll decide as a group whether we want to bring some simple snacks.<\/p>\n

These are the first of several planned writing\/critiquing circles to be hosted by Canadian Authors\u2013Toronto across the GTA. But we (your new branch executive committee of six) can\u2019t do it all ourselves. We are looking for moderators to organize and run writing circles across the GTA.
