| Bio | I gave up my job managing human resources to fulfill my dream of becoming a professional writer. That momentous decision was taken in January 2015. I have not looked back since. An urge to share my thoughts and philosophy steered me to write my first novel. It was waiting for its audience. I would have to devote all of my creative energy to bring this about - that meant making the ultimate commitment. My debut novel MOONLIGHT - THE JOURNEY BEGINS was published in August 2021. I wanted to shine a light on female courage; how despite insurmountable odds she is able to overcome social barriers, love her family, forgive them for their mistakes, find inspiration from ancestors and lead her life with dignity. So I wrote the story. It is available in paperback, hardcover and e-book format from Amazon, FriesenPress Bookstore, Barnes & Noble, Indigo, Kindle, Nook, iTunes, Google and Kobo. I also earned a diploma in Business Administration from Centennial College, Scarborough. My love for the written word steered me to joining creative writing courses at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus. The other passions that rule my life are reading, volunteering, travelling and watching cultural shows that showcase diversity. Some of my short stories have been published on www.CommuterLit.com and www.StorieswithPictures.org, CrestMag, and I have written personal essays as a guest columnist for The South Asian News. My contributions of prayer have been included several times in Prayer for the City, an anthology of prayers published through the year by the Yonge Street Mission in Toronto (www.ysm.ca) I write literary fiction. I compose poetry as a means of expressing my innermost thoughts and this helps in the process of writing fiction. Inspiration comes from life around me in general, my childhood growing up in a sprawling house in a small town in Bihar, India, and spending summer vacations at my grandfather's house in Calcutta. A collection of shorts stories and poems is in the works with an expected launch date of late April-early May 2022 and I am working on my second novel. |
