Bio JC Sulzenko’s poetry has appeared on Arc’s Poem of the year shortlist, online, in anthologies and in journals either under her name or as A. Garnett Weiss. Vallum: Contemporary Poetry, the Naugatuck River Review, The Light Ekphrastic, Silver Birch Press and Poetry Leaves have featured her. Her centos won awards, including top honours in the Bannister Anthology (2016, 2013) and in the inaugural Wind and Water competition (Prince Edward County.) Another Dysfunctional Cancer Poem Anthology, The Poet’s Pathway, Country CollAboRaTive and Ekphrasis at Blizzmax Gallery projects carried her work. Point Petre Publishing released her South Shore Suite…POEMS in 2017. Aeolus House published her Bricolage, A Gathering of Centos in August 2021. JC has presented workshops for the Ottawa International Writer’s Festival, The Griffin Trio, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, the Ottawa Public Library and a number of Alzheimer Societies, among others. She curates The Glebe Report’s Poetry Quarter and serves as a selector for the online journal Bywords. She co-authored chapbooks Slant of Light and Breathing Mutable Air with Carol A. Stephen and published six books for children, plus a play about dementia.
