Since 1996, when her first submission of fiction won Canadian Living magazine’s short story contest, she has been like the proverbial "kid in a candy store", stretching her narrative voice into many forms and genres. She is the award-winning author of fiction, plays, and poetry appearing widely in publications across Canada, in the US and the UK. Ruth was also a founding editor for the literary journal, LICHEN and is a creative writer instructor with Writescape, offering retreats and workshops throughout Ontario.
