Bio K.V. Skene was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, grew up in Lachine, Quebec and has subsequently lived in Toronto, Colborne, Ont. and Victoria BC while studying (and teaching) Hatha Yoga, exploring meditation techniques, researching ancient philosophies and modern religions and writing poetry. After leaving Canada and living as an expat in England and Ireland for over eighteen years a return to Toronto in 2011 was deemed necessary and where she still resides. Skene’s poetry has appeared in Canadian, U.K., U.S. Irish, Australian, Austrian and Indian journals. Her poetry sequence, The Whitening of the Ox, originally published in Descant 92/93, 1996, was set to music by composer Jeffrey Ryan, and had its world premier January 2012 at Toronto’s Harbourfront and a west coast premiere August 2012 at Vancouver’s MusicFest . It also enjoyed a recent outing on the 25th of May, 2016 in Hamilton’s ‘What Next’ Festival , courtesy of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.
