Literary Awards Program

Open to all Canadian writers, the Canadian Authors Literary Awards honour published books that achieve excellence without sacrificing popular appeal. Categories include fiction, Canadian history, and poetry.

Shortlists are announced in the spring, and the winners are announced at a special gala held during our annual conference.

The Emerging Writer Award honours writers under 30 deemed to show exceptional promise in the field of literary creation.

New! The Canadian Authors Fred Kerner Book Award, an award exclusively for CAA members

For more information, including this year’s guidelines and entry forms, visit the Awards pages on this website, including the Submit-for-an-Award/ section.

Roving Writers Touring Program

This program works towards giving members already scheduled for book tours or other professional engagements opportunities to take on additional speaking engagements and book signings at local branches and other affiliate partner locations in nearby areas.

For additional information, please contact apurcell(at)canadianauthors.org.

Member Book Catalogue

The Bookshelf 2013 and The Bookshelf 2014 are print and digital catalogues of books by participating members of the association. Launched in December 2013, the digital version of these catalogues were created in a flip-book format, available to members and the public and electronically distributed via online platforms to an international audience.

NOTE: This member service has been discontinued due to resource cuts. In lieu of this service, we are working towards creating a Bookshelf section on our website to showcase member works by Fall 2017.
