DESCRIPTION:The Indexing Society of Canada / Société canadienne d’indexation (ISC/SCI) is pleased to announce that this year’s annual conference is taking place from the comfort of home from May 27 to 29\, 2021. The theme is “Indexing Unlimited”. The conference sessions will cover a variety of topics to help indexers improve their indexing practice and make their businesses thrive. \nOne new feature is designed especially for new indexers. The online Fireside Chat hosted by Stephen Ullstrom and Margaret DeBoer will give them the opportunity to talk in a group setting with an experienced indexer on the transition from student to practicing indexer. \nNetworking has always been an important component of the annual conference\, and this year will be no different. Plans are in the works for activities that will help indexers meet new friends and catch with up with old ones. \nThis conference will give you a variety of topics to help you improve your indexing practice and make your business thrive\, including: \n\nCreating an award-winning index\, from a panel of Ewart-Daveluy award winners\nEditing your index to take it to the next level\nBuilding client relationships\nQuoting on projects\nThe new NISO standard for indexes (NISO is the National Information Standards Organization)\nAnd more\n\nAlso featured: \n\nKeynote speaker Raegan Swanson from The ArQuives (The Canadian Lesbian + Gay Archives)\nJenny Higgins\, former Wikipedian-in-Residence at Memorial University in Newfoundland\nAnnouncement of the winner of the Ewart-Daveluy Award for Indexing Excellence\n\nEach day there will be lots of fun activities to help you meet your fellow indexers. \nCan’t make the whole conference? DESCRIPTION:A Canadian Authors–Toronto & Dark Helix Press joint event\nvia Zoom\, FREE and open attendance for all \nCanadian Authors–Toronto has partnered with Dark Helix Press\, an indie press based in Toronto\, to celebrate the book launch of a new Asian Canadian anthology\, Belief. This anthology is a compilation of Ricepaper Magazine submissions—short stories\, poetry\, and nonfiction by writers of Asian descent from across the world. The theme that binds the collection is “belief\,” a notion personal to each individual sharing a piece of themselves in their works. Each author shares a conviction of truth shaping the reality of life in the Asian diaspora. \nFor this event\, a number of authors who contributed to this anthology will be sharing a short reading of their piece. This includes Joy Kogawa\, Silvia Leung\, Moni Brar\, Changming Yuan\, Kathy Quyen Pham\, Nastasha Alli\, Bianca Weeko Martin\, Kevin Wong\, Karen-Luz Sison\, Emi Sasagawa\,  Carmen Chan and Michelle Zhang.
