DESCRIPTION:Tickets: $15 Students/Seniors | $20 General \nTickets must be purchased in advance. \nWriters’ Trust is delighted to present Leslie Jamison live in conversation at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto at a flagship event hosted by Ali Hassan and moderated by Marni Jackson. \nLeslie Jamison’s impressive body of work places her at the heart of contemporary nonfiction. The acclaimed American author of The Recovering\, The Empathy Exams\, Make It Scream\, Make It Burn\, and The Gin Closet is a leading voice in contemporary nonfiction\, with work in The New Yorker\, The Atlantic\, The New York Times\, Harper’s\, and more. The event features a presentation from Jamison followed by an interview with Canadian author Marni Jackson\, and a book signing. The authors will discuss the place of nonfiction writing in our world\, the specificity and universality of storytelling\, and the multifaceted nature of narrative. Copies of Jamison’s books will be available for purchase\, courtesy of Ben McNally Books. \nMarni Jackson is a Canadian author of three nonfiction books and a novel. She has co-written a Dora Award-winning play\, a docu-concert\, and a documentary. Jackson has also served as the Rogers Chair of Literary Journalism program at the Banff Centre and was a juror for this year’s Weston International Award. \nAli Hassan is a comedian\, actor\, author\, broadcaster and host of Laugh Out Loud on CBC Radio and SiriusXM. He has hosted a season of CBC’s The Next Chapter\, and for the past nine years has been the host of Canada Reads. His memoir\, Is There Bacon in Heaven?\, was released in 2022 by Simon & Schuster Canada. Hassan lives in Toronto. \nPresented by the Weston International Award and Writers’ Trust of Canada. \n
