DESCRIPTION:The Kingston WritersFest 2020 virtual festival takes place September 23-27\, 2020\, with more than 60 writers in nearly 50 events over 5 days! The festival will include the stories of women\, the stories of Indigenous writers\, writers of different experiences\, cultural backgrounds\, and orientations. \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nWriting Outside the Box: 9:00 am – 11:15 am on September 25th\, 2020 \nMolson Award-winning experimental fiction writer Diane Schoemperlen shares her “box of tricks”\, offering techniques for opening yourself to experimentation with literary form by using the page in unique ways\, re-imagining the arrangement of text on the page\, or incorporating visual elements. For the non-adventurous or stuck writer\, or one who feels creativity welling but isn’t sure how to activate it\, this is a gentle way to bust out of the rut of conventional story-telling and get the creativity flowing. In-class exercises give you hands-on practice\, and you may surprise yourself by creating something that’s outside the box. \nLimited enrolment\, register in advance.
