DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Freedom to Read Week from February 22 – 28\, 2026. \nFreedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom. As of 2024\, Freedom to Read Week entered a new phase led by Library and Archives Canada\, the Canadian Urban Libraries Council\, and the Ontario Library Association\, in partnership with the Book and Periodical Council. \nJoin the Digital Day of Action on Monday\, February 23 \nLeaders from the Book and Periodical Council\, the Canadian Urban Libraries Council\, Library and Archives Canada and the Ontario Library Association have come together to increase awareness of Freedom to Read Week through an important Digital Day of Action on Monday\, February 23\, 2026. \nOn this day\, we are asking champions for intellectual freedom to share a united message on one or more of their social media channels in recognition of Freedom to Read Week at 12:00 pm EST. We have provided sample copy and visuals. This post must include #FTRW26 #FreedomToRead and the link: freedomtoread.ca. \nWe encourage you to promote Freedom to Read Week in your own ways as well – as many of you already do. Share booklists\, web links\, programs\, and more. And consider adding those hashtags to other posts to further increase reach and engagement. \nWe have everything you need to participate in the Digital Day of Action \n\nHow to Get Involved Tips\nDownload official assets and view social post copy\n\nOn February 23\, be sure to like\, share\, comment\, and engage with those using #FTRW26 #FreedomToRead. \nPlease join us and stand with libraries across Canada to demonstrate the power and importance of your freedom to read.
