DESCRIPTION:Via Zoom. \nFree to members of Canadian Authors Association; $10 for non-members. \nWe use both scene and summary to weave together a story. Scenes of dialogue and action draw the reader in\, while summary – exposition – fills in events\, backstory\, setting\, etcetera. Over-summarization can drain the heart out of a story; on the other hand\, wallowing in scene after scene can become deadly boring and drag the pace down. Tim Wynne-Jones will lead us to find the right balance of scene and summary in the rhythm of our stories. \nTim Wynne-Jones is the author of thirty-seven books for people of all ages from picture books to young adult and adult novels. He has won the Governor General’s Award twice and been short-listed six times\, the Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Award twice and The Edgar Award of the Mystery Writers of America\, once. His books have been translated into a dozen languages. For his contribution as a children’s writer and educator he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
