Pre-registration will be required\, first come\, first served. \nOnline registration opens on August 15 at 8:00 am and closes on September 5 at 12:00 pm. Register at http://canadianauthors.org/vancouver/open-mic-night/. \nOverview of the Evening\nBack by popular demand\, CA-MV’s popular Open Mic night is a great way to catch up on what local authors are writing — and reading. \nCanadian Authors–Metro Vancouver will assign the reading order for each participant. Each reader is allocated a five-minute segment\, including any introduction to the piece. For brevity\, and from experience\, we suggest that you keep the intro to five or ten seconds so that you can have the optimum time for reading. The average five-minute speech consists of 650 words\, and we suggest that you aim for your reading to be approximately 625 to 650 words. \nRobert W. Mackay is the host. Maureen MacDonald is the moderator. She’s firm and fair. Each presenter will be advised when there is one minute left. Readers who go over their time will hear applause to indicate their time is up.
