SUMMARY:CAA NATIONAL / SF CANADA EVENT – Book Bones with Susan Forest
DESCRIPTION:Structure is key to writing a novel. Whether the three-act structure\, five-act structure\, Hero’s Journey\, Virgin’s promise\, Transtheortical Model\, Stages of Grief\, or Anatomy of Story appeal to you\, come prepared to examine the differences among novel skeletons and see which can inform your manuscript. \nLearning Objectives of This Webinar: \n\nTo distinguish among various structures for novels\nTo recognize how one style of novel skeleton might serve your purpose better than another\nTo identify the power of planning in a first draft or of turning again to a novel skeleton when revising.\n\nSusan Forest is the author of dual Aurora Award-winners Bursts of Fire (2019) and Flights of Marigold (2020) as well as over 25 internationally-published short stories (Analog\, Asimov’s\, Beneath Ceaseless Skies). She edits an award-winning anthology series for Laksa Media Groups\, and was Editor Guest of Honour at Keycon in 2022. Gathering of Ghosts\, the third novel of her Addicted to Heaven series (2023) confronts issues of addictions in an epic fantasy world of intrigue and betrayal.
