She will tell us about her memoir and about the impact of writing on the women who live in isolated Indigenous communities. Mary-Anne&#8217;s memoir, &#8220;Under the Midnight Sun\u201d recounts her fifty-year\u00a0friendship with the Arctic Dene and provides an\u00a0insight\u00a0into\u00a0Indigenous and non-Indigenous lives in the context of the changing environment of the Arctic. Since 2021, more than 4,000 copies of the book have been sold.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date: <\/strong>Wednesday<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>March 8th, 2023<br \/>\n<strong>Time: <\/strong>7pm PST &#8211; The program will be approximately 1 hour.<br \/>\n<strong>Location: <\/strong>Zoom meeting &#8211; link will be sent to registrants (see below for link to online\u00a0registration form).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>About The Speaker:<\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-595 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianauthors.org\/bc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mary-anne_neal-300x254.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianauthors.org\/bc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mary-anne_neal-300x254.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianauthors.org\/bc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/mary-anne_neal.jpg 325w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mary-Anne Neal\u00a0<\/strong>is an author\u00a0whose career includes ten years as Communications Director for the BC Ministry of Education, and almost twenty years as a faculty member for Royal<span class=\"gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Roads University. Now semi-retired, she volunteers extensively in developing countries, and has worked with the women of Ecuador and Kenya while on assignment with Global Affairs Canada.<\/p>\n<p>She has been honoured with awards from Leadership Victoria and the Arctic Inspiration Prize, as well as numerous writing and teaching awards.
