Read fiction or nonfiction at Speak Easy, Victoria’s newest prose open-mic event. Readings up to five minutes. Open mic sign-up 6:45 pm to 7:00 pm. Featured readers will include Victoria author Margaret Gracie and winners of the Canadian Authors–Victoria 2017 flash creative nonfiction contest.

Patrick Taylor read from his latest book in the Irish Country Doctor series: An Irish Country Love StoryA fundraiser for Canadian Authors – Victoria.

Patrick Taylor, MD, is the author of the best-selling Irish Country books, including An Irish Country Doctor and the newest, An Irish Country Love Story (Tor/Raincoast, Oct. 2016). Taylor was raised in Northern Ireland. After qualifying as a specialist in 1969, he worked in Canada for 31 years. He now lives on Salt Spring Island, BC.

Sun Feb 28: Seven Myths of Writing with Robert J. Wiersema

Robert J. Wiersema spoke about his books and offered advice for writers at all levels. He is a writer and book reviewer who regularly contributes to several national newspapers and radio shows on CBC and C-FAX. He is a best-selling author of three novels, Before I Wake, Bedtime Story, and Black Feathers, a novella entitled The World More Full of Weeping, and a non-fiction book about Bruce Springsteen, Walk Like a Man.
